The awards season

1st November 2019 | posted in News

Railway Housing Association's 73-home development in Darlington, which was officially opened in June 2019, has been shortlisted for two prestigious awards.

The Sidings, a scheme which included the sympathetic restoration of a listed railway building from 1844, has been shortlisted in the category of best development in the Chartered Institute of Housing Northern Housing Awards.

This award recognises developments that provide desirable and sustainable places to live, improving the lives of people within the community.

We are also in the running for a National Railway Heritage Award for our work converting the listed engine shed into affordable homes.

The objective of these awards is to encourage high standards of restoration of buildings, structures and signalling installations and of their environmental care, thus promoting public recognition and awareness of our historic railway and tramway heritage and environment.

We will discover if we have been successful in the CIH Northern Housing Awards on 21st November and in the National Railway Heritage Awards on 4th December.
